The highly anticipated feature film, Great Bear Rainforest, will be screened this month at select IMAX cinemas in Vancouver, Victoria, Toronto and Sudbury.
Directed by Ian McAllister, Executive Director of Pacific Wild, the film gives viewers from around the world a chance to see one of the planet’s most spectacular places, including its thriving communities and local culture, and abundant wolves, grizzly bears, humpback whales, sea otters and more.
At a time when Canada’s Senate is still debating whether to support a permanent ban on large oil tankers through the North Coast, this film shows in stunning detail what’s at stake if a devastating spill were to occur.
Here’s what McAllister had to say about those he worked with to create the film: “I feel incredibly fortunate to have worked alongside so many talented, dedicated individuals who have all contributed to this enormous project. In particular, the patience, wisdom, humour and support of so many members of the Heiltsuk, Kitasoo Xai’xais and Gitga’at Nations.”
