CFN is pleased to announce that Emilee Gilpin has joined the communications team as CFN Community Storyteller.

Emilee is Métis, Filipina, Scottish and Irish. As a Michif nomad, she has come to understand her responsibilities as a mixed person, a visitor to the northwest coast, to use her skills and gifts to be a vehicle to amplify voices in a truthful, accurate and culturally-appropriate way.

Emilee has spent her career working to de-colonize and indigenize the media. Her commitment to telling stories in the right way will be invaluable as we continue to build relationships with our communities, seeing and hearing stories that have been largely ignored or distorted in the past.

Emilee worked as a journalist, leading the National Observer series “First Nations Forward,” which highlighted stories of strength and success in communities across so-called BC, before taking on the role as managing editor for IndigiNews.

In her position as Community Storyteller, Emilee will build and maintain close relationships with leaders, staff and community members to ensure that their stories, successes and challenges are shared.

We are beyond excited to welcome this talent to our team.

You can contact Emilee at: egilpin@coastalfirstnations.ca
